The Taoist arts include a wide spectrum of ways to engage the body and mind, from gentle and nourishing to more physically engaging. Tendon Changing and Bone Marrow Washing Qigong offers a balanced experience. It can be explored at a moderate pace, allowing the body to open and strengthen naturally, or approached with greater physical engagement for those who enjoy a more athletic expression.
Here, tendon and bone marrow point to ways of training that take us deep into the body. These methods are felt from the inside out, with effects that can reach beyond surface movement, resonating into the bones themselves. In Taoist tradition, this depth of training connects with working through the meridian system — a holistic network described in traditional Chinese medicine as linking physical, mental, and emotional aspects of the body, where balance is essential to health.
The Tendon Changing and Bone Marrow Washing method supports both opening and strengthening the body. At the same time, it engages the brain through coordinated movement that brings both hemispheres into clearer communication. When explored at a faster pace, the set can have a naturally detoxifying effect on the body.
The system brings together many Taoist principles and ideas, offering practitioners a deeper understanding of the meaning and reasoning behind this art.
This forms the foundation of many training systems, from Tai Chi to Xingyi (Form–Mind Boxing), supporting the balanced development of both ming and xing — body and spirit. Ming can be likened to a vehicle: when it is well cared for, it supports the journey with ease; when it is compromised, everything becomes more difficult. Xing relates to our deeper nature — our original essence or spirit. It is often obscured by layers of conditioning, making it harder for its natural brilliance to shine through.
This course will deeply relax, open, and strengthen the body, helping to build jing (essence) and qi (energy). The movements can be explored in a moderate, relaxing way or approached more vigorously. Over time, working with this Qigong supports a positive outlook and overall good health. I look forward to sharing this method of training with you.
